Write for us

United Spotlight welcomes pitches that reveal a specific cultural connection and make it interesting to a general reader. Proposals should have a clear focus, room for context and a reason the subject matters beyond a simple origin story.

What we welcome

We consider ideas across music, design, language, food and screen culture, especially pieces that follow how a form or idea changes as people encounter and adapt it. We welcome explanatory essays, comparisons and historical perspectives grounded in a well-defined subject.

Shape a strong pitch

Tell us the central question, the main connection you want to explore and what makes your angle distinct. Include a short outline, the likely scope and any relevant background that helps us assess the proposal. Avoid pitches that rely on sweeping claims about a whole culture or promise access you cannot provide.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option to send your pitch. Please do not submit a finished article unless we have asked for one; we review a clear proposal first.
